We are excited to announce that our friends at the Golden Gate Fiber Institute (GGFI) http://www.goldengatefiberinstitute.org/ have put up the schedule for their Summer 2008 Intensive. The retreat will be held at the YMCA Camp at Point Bonita Lighthouse in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), just five minutes north of the Golden Gate bridge. This is a small retreat in a relaxed atmosphere with lots of time to learn and practice, walk for exercise and inspiration and enjoy your fellow fiber folk. The classes are small to maximize your learning opportunity and provide plenty of individual attention. The chef is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy and does a magnificent job of providing for a variety of special food needs while making the overall dining experience a pleasure.

The theme for the Summer retreat is Folk Traditions. It is the hope of GGFI that the classes offered will open a window into history and encourage us to see older techniques in new ways. The retreat will consist of six full days of instruction, lodging, meals and a beautiful location. Each student will have the opportunity to take one class from Track A and one class from Track B. Each class will meet for three hours a day for each of the six days of the retreat.

Morgaine Wilder, mastermind behind Golden Gate Fiber Institute, is also the owner of Carolina Homespun, and her plan is to have two, one-week long intensives per year, allowing total immersion in the fiber arts. Curious Creek Fibers is pleased to be sponsoring fibers for the resist felting class by Loyce Ericson, as well as for the freeform knit and crochet class by Myra Wood.

I look forward to seeing you there!
